Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow is pleased to announce that the III RMLNLU National Mediation Competition would be held from 17th-19th February 2016.
Background of the Competition:
The term "mediation" broadly refers to any instance in which a third party
helps others reach agreement. Mediators use various techniques to open, or
improve, dialogue and empathy between disputants, aiming to help the parties
reach an agreement.
In the year 2012, our university had successfully organized the 1st RMLNLU
Mediation Competition with an over whelming number of universities
participating in it from all over the country. It was a three day event and
the Judges for this event were eminent personalities in the legal arena.
The second edition of the Mediation Competition, organized in March, 2016,
was also hugely successful in garnering participation of about 36 teams from
across the nation. Mock sessions and lectures by eminent people in the field
were conducted to appraise the students of the pattern of the competition.
Prizes worth ₹ 50,000 were given to the best team, best mediator, best
client and runner-up client and mediator.
Vision:
The Legal Aid Committee aspires to further its commitment towards
fostering ADR mechanisms by taking the Competition to an international
level. The Committee promises to make the forthcoming editions bigger and
better with increased participation of students across the globe.

Participation:
Participation in the Competition is through invitation only, but any law
college/university/institute may request for an invite through mail at
rmlnlu.mediation@gmail.com , expressing their
desire to participate.
General Guidelines:
The competition is limited to undergraduate law students only.
A participating university can send a maximum of three teams, comprising of two members each, who will play the roles of client and counsel.
The Competition will comprise a preliminary round followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and final round. Top two client and counsel will qualify to the final round.
While allotting slots to Universities, preference
shall be towards the invited teams, while the teams that apply to the
organising committee will be wait-listed until slots are available.
Registration Fee:
The Registration fee per team is INR 3000.
Prize Money:
Total prize money of INR 50,000 and more for the winners of
different categories of the competition, including Best Team, Best
Client, and Best Counsel among others.
