The Internship and Placement Committee at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, is an integral part of the institution. It performs various important functions which involve participation from the entire student body. Some functions performed by the Committee are enlisted below:
The Committee is a student run body, guided in the right direction by its Faculty Advisors. The Committee works tirelessly to ensure that students get good Internships and Placements, which form an intrinsic part of a law school education.

Interactive Session with Chris Parsons, August 11, 2016
The Placement and Internship Committee organized an
interaction of the students with Mr. Chris Parsons, Chairman, India
Practice, Herbert Smith Freehills on August 11, 2016. Mr. Parsons has been
with HSF for over 30 years and has been the Chairman of the firm's India
Practice for the past 10 years.
Apart from time with clients, Mr. Parsons lectures at a number of Law
Schools in India. He also helps guide the firm's social initiatives in India
which includes HSF Bridge, a project that links law students with local
causes. Mr. Parsons is the relationship partner for a number of Indian
companies and has been involved on some leading deals including Bharti's
acquisition of Zain Africa, Godrej's joint venture with the Darling Group
across Africa and Essar's arrangements with Vodafone.
Mr. Parsons interacted with students of the University on diverse areas such
as cross border mergers and acquisitions, recruitments at HSF, requirements
of working in the international market and HSF’s commitments to India among
other things. The interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation by the
students.
Manthan is the flagship event organized by the Internship & Placement Committee annually, wherein leading experts and alumni in Corporate sector, Litigation, and Academia share their experience and views on different career prospects with the student, in order to help them choose a career and formulate their plans accordingly. 1. CORPORATE PANEL DISCUSSION, 5th March 2016
Aarti Joshi (Partner) Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Anil Choudhary (Partner) Finsec Law Advisors, Jasleen Oberoi (Partner) Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Mr. S Vasan (Partner) Lakshmikumar Sidharan Sumit Rai (Partner) Economic and Law Practice had a discussion on how to build a career in law firm practice.
2. LITIGATION PANEL DISCUSSION, 6th March 2016
The members in the panel were Mr. Alok Tiwari (Partner) Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Mr. Jaideep Narayan Mathur (Senior Advocate) Allahabad High Court and Mr. Ashok Mehta (Senior Advocate) Additional Solicitor General Of India. They had a discussion on career prospects as a litigant.
3. CV BUILDING SESSION, 6th March 2016
This session was taken by Mr. Amit Upadhaya, CEO of Equiskills. (former HR at Citibank). He explained the nuances for building a good resume and CV.
4. MOCK PERSONAL INTERVIEW, 6th March 2016
The Mock Personal Interview exercise was organized in order to make students acquainted with real interviews and can learn from that. The interviews were taken by Amit Upadhyay (former HR at Citibank), Umesh Bajpai (former legal officer at PNB), Shyam Garg (NABARD) and Yasir Hakim Abbas (Guest Faculty at Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi).
INTERNSHIPS (2015-16)
In the academic year 2015-16 the Internship and Placement Committee had provided internships in big corporate firms like Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Khaitan and Co., Luthra and so on. Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas had selected 9 students for internship in the academic year 2015-16.

The Internship and Placement Committee organized a lecture on Drafting of Property Deeds by Mr. Neelesh Banthia- 11th Aug 2014
Mr. Neelesh Banthia, representing Banthia and Co., a prestigious law firm, gave tips to the students on Drafting of Property deeds. He also discussed various kinds of agreements that are made in Sale of Property such as Joint Venture Agreement, and Sale-cum-Construction Agreement. He further emphasized on the need of practical experience of law for law students, and the role of internships in imparting holistic education. The interactive and informative session ended with Mr. Banthia sharing some of his personal experiences and encouraging students to find their niche in the field of law.
The Internship and Placement Committee in association with renowned firm Nishith Desai Associates conducted a lecture on Principles of International Taxation: An Indian Perspective– 13th August 2014
The Internship and Placement Committee in collaboration with Nishith Desai Associates, organized a video conference/discussion for the students on the topic "Basic Principles of International Taxation: An Indian Perspective". Organized in the library, the session was conducted by Mr. Ashish Sodhani and Ms. Shipra Padhi, Associates and Members of International Tax Practice at NDA, Mumbai.
The discussion was primarily focused on the International Tax principles applicable in various case studies provided by them. The Issues of Source and Residentiary principles and the conflicts arising due them, the role of DTAAs, transfer of assets between two companies situated in different countries were among the topics that were discussed. They further initiated discussion on advantages and disadvantages of debt and equity investments, and the differences between tax avoidance and tax planning. The discussion provided an insight to the contemporary problems of International Taxation from India’s perspective.
The Internship and Placement Committee organized a lecture on Deciding How to Choose Between : A law firm or Litigation, delivered by Mr. Mayank Pandey- 16 Aug 2014
Mr. Mayank Pandey, an advocate in the chambers of Mr. L. Nagesgwara Rao, Additional Solicitor General of India, was invited by the Internship and Placemen Committee to engage in an interactive discussion in the merits and demerits of firm litigation and independent litigation.
Formerly an associate at AMSS working in the field of commercial arbitration, Mr. Pandey shared various personal experiences to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of joining a firm or starting as an independent practitioner at the bar. He further gave his opinion on the viability of switching from firm litigation to independent practice and vice-versa, and the importance of legal background for a fresh graduate. He discussed the various expectations of legal industry from law graduates and the importance of law school activities in the CV, especially when a student is desirous of pursuing LL.M. from a foreign university. Apart from this, he also shared the different experiences of practicing under a High Court and a Supreme Court Lawyer. The interactive and engaging session proved extremely informative for the students who were eager to know about the various career aspects open to them.

The Internship and placement Committee at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow was pleased to invite Dr. Satya Prakash, Director and Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Director of the Competition Commission of India, to conduct an interactive session with its Students.
The session involved discussion on the scope of Competition law, analyzing its definition, nature, its relation to economics and its evolution in India. The discussion focused on a variety of topics including, the need of Competition Law, the functions of the Competition Commission of India, discussion on recent case laws and judgments given by the Commission and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
