The Cultural Committee

The Cultural Committee of the University has rebranded itself with a new logo and the name: “Tehzeeb”, capturing the essence of the culture of Uttar Pradesh.The committee has evolved from being in the dormant stage to an active stage in the past few years, and intends to keep the momentum going. Throughout the year the committee had been organizing a colourful bouquet of cultural events wrapped with cultural fervor and zeal.  The committee intends to incorporate more celebrations including the India Week, Halloween, Diwali, Navratra, GudiPadwa, Pohela, Baisakh and more events like RML Idol, Dance RML Dance, Standup Comedy, to name a few.

Naqaab- The Theatre Society

The committee also took the initiative to start a theatre society named Naqaab. Worsjops have been conducted in respect of the same. Over the next semester with his help and guidance the committee intends to work on a production for different college festivals.

Vijay Kargil Diwas (26th July 2017)

  1. Vijay Kargil Diwas was celebrated at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University on 26th July, 2017. The event was organized under the aegis of the Cultural Committee of the University, Tehzeeb. The event started at 7 P.M. and ended by 8:15 P.M.
  2. It was an open event for the RMLNLU fraternity. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh; Chief Proctor , Dr. K.A. Pandey; Warden Girls Hostel Dr. Aparna Singh; Deputy Librarian, Dr. Maneesh Kumar Bajpai; Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, Dr Alka Singh; Chairperson of the Sports Committee, Dr. Manish Singh; Chief Security Officer, Col. Agni Singh and the student Convener of the Cultural Committee, Mr. Rijul Dubey and Mr. Kumar Sourav along with other committee members and staff members of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University graced the occasion with their presence.
  3. All the faculty members, officers and staff along with the students participated in the aforesaid VIJAY KARGIL DIWAS with great enthusiasm.
  4. Sufficient volunteers were deputed at the venue and it was conducted in an organized, orderly and disciplined manner.
  5. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh addressed the large gathering at the Sampark Plaza where he boosted the gathering with great patriotism and told the students about the relevancy of this day the event witnessed great poetic recitations by Animesh (III Year) and Bharat Bhushan (I Year) and a motivating speech by Shubham Kumar (IV Year). The Chief Security Officer, Col. Agni Singh inspired the young minds by sharing his field experiences. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the University administration, academic fraternity, committee members, students and media persons.
  6. A poster-making competition was also organized on the eve of Vijay Kargil Diwas at the Sampark Plaza on 25th July 2017.

ENGRAPHIA-2017

The opening ceremony of Inter University Cultural Event, Engraphia 2017 organized on 25/02/2017 started in the evening with the release of the brochure of Engraphia-2017. by the Joint Registrar, Dr. J. D. Gangwar and the Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, Dr. Alka Singh. The committee started the first day event, Thunderstruck 2017(Inter University Band Competition), scheduled on 25/02/2016 at 4:45 P.M. and ended sharply at 9:55 P.M.

The Academic Conclave cum Seminar on the theme “Health and Hygiene; Habits and Patterns: A Cultural Enquiry” started right at the timings scheduled (11:00 A.M.) on 27/02/2017 and ended sharp by 2:30 P.M. as per the requirement.

Fabulous band performances as part of the Thunderstruck 2017 as well as enriching Panel Discussions by established authorities/ renowned dignitaries, added to the promotion of art and cultural activities for an all round development of the students at the University level.

Matribhasha Diwas-2017

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow celebrated February 21, 2017 as the Matribhasha Diwas, as per the UGC guidelines, in order to sensitize people about the need for greater use of mother tongue and other Indian languages. The programme started at 5:30 p.m. and ended at 6:30 p.m.
The Cultural Committee of the University, Tehzeeb, hosted a stage play titled Tarakki , based on Bhisham Sahni’s short story Chief ki Daawat, touching upon the issues of mother tongue and other Indian languages. The play was performed by the members of the dramatic unit of the Cultural Committee, called NAQAAB.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on the occasion said that, this day is also significant as it aims at highlighting the need to impart, among the students, the communication skills and proficiency in mother tongue and other Indian languages, especially among English medium students.

Unity Race/Run for Unity of the Nation (November 04, 2016)

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Saptah as salutation to Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Unifier of India on 4rth November, 2016 with great fervor. The Cultural Committee of the University, Tehzeeb, organized Unity Race/Run for Unity of the Nation to promote nation-wide campaign of MHRD, Govt. of India as per the directives of Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh addressed the large gathering at the inaugural function, where he called upon the young students towards world unity & asked all the students, faculty members and staff of the university to become a part of the Rashtriya Ekta Saptah.

Agni Singh; Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, Dr Alka Singh, and the Student Convener of the Cultural Committee, Mr. Ravi Gangal; along with other Committee members, faculty members and staff members of Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University family pledged to promote SardarVallabh Bhai Patel’s ideals and concept of Unity.

All the Faculty Members, officers and staff along with the students participated in the aforesaid UNITY RACE/RUN FOR UNITY with great enthusiasm. The Unity Race began from the opening gate area of the Academic Block at 4:30 pm. The route map of the proposed race had already been notified to all the participants beforehand. Counters to serve lemonade to the participants were also set up at Lohia Chowk on the campus so that participants may not feel dehydrated after running. Everyone participated in the pre- directed dress code & colour of white/blue i.e., white shirt, white t-shirt, white kurta, white kurtis etc., On white or blue lower/pant/track/salwar etc. with PT shoes or sports shoes.

The function/day ended with a grand prize & certificate distribution that encouraged the participants, uplift their morale and self-confidence. Reward of cash prize was given to the Winner of the Unity Race to Mobasher Alam and Runner-up Purossattam Kittanee. Both are the Students of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University.

2nd October, 2016

Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow celebrated the auspicious day of 2nd October with great fervor that marks the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastriji. The Cultural Committee of the University, Tehzeeb, on the direction of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Professor Gurdip Singh, under the supervision of Dr Alka Singh, Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, showcased a documentary on the lives and contribution of these great leaders to the making of Independent India. The Documentary was focused on Gandhian Values of Satya and Ahimsa, and Lal Bahadur Shastriji’s concern for progressive India. A floral tribute was paid to both the great leaders of the Country and everyone present paid homage to Mahatma ji and Lal Bahadur Shastriji. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on the occasion said that, this day is also significant as India has ratified the Paris Convention on Climate Change. He asked all the students, faculty members and staff of the university to become a part of the Swacha Bharat Campaign, India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister. A poetry session was also organized in the honour of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and Lal Bahadur Shashtriji, along with a few motivating and inspirational speeches by students. The Students’ members (Ravi, Tanya, Sourav and Nishtha) of the Cultural Committee ended the programme with the vote of thanks, and wishes of “Navratri” and “Durga Puja”to everyone present in the function.

OHR 4.0

1. The Cultural Committee, Tehzeeb of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow, celebrated Ohr 4.0., an Intra-University Cultural Fest. The Committee organized a three day event (both in the competitive and non competitive spirit) on 19th,20th and 21st of September 2016, offering varied cultural programs such as Inter Batch Music Competition / Inter Batch Dance Competition, Disney Quiz, Armageddon(a gaming event) Gala Night gathering, filler events like face painting, tattoo making, Dress’em Up etc. and various other sportive/seasoned events, and different performances by students belonging to different cultural groups that added to the promotion of art and cultural activities for an all round development of the students, and also promoted the unity among, and within the batches at the University. The Closing ceremony of Ohr 4.0 was held on September 21, 2016 celebrating the spirit of goodness of heart and mind, happiness of childhood days etc., through a Disney themed Gala Night.

2. In compliance with directives of the UGC, a special event was also held where different presentations were made to celebrate the spirit of “Swachh Pakhwada” as part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” of the Government of India.

The Decennium Celebration

 

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University has completed ten years of its distinguished existence on 17th August, 2016. The inaugural ceremony of the Decennium celebration commenced on 17th August, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. in the Seminar Hall. Hon'ble Sri Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Guest, the then Higher Education Minister Sri Ramasare Vishwakarma, and the Current Higher Education Minister Sri Sharda Pratap Shukla were among the other esteemed guests. Under the celebration, the University honored the Lohiya fraternity –the founder Vice- Chancellor, founder Registrar, Teachers and other officers who have contributed the university in different capacity. In the evening Professor T.P. Singh delivered an Invited lecture, and NAQAAB, a dramatic unit of the Cultural Committee of the University has staged a play titled Haveli Ki Deewar touching upon the issues of nation.


Lohri Celebration

Lohri was celebrated in the University amidst Faculty, staff and students with bonfire and cultural dance and music, thus making the students feel at home away from home.

Celebration of national festivals

The celebration of national festivals instils in the RML students a sense of response.

 

Basant Panchami:-

The committee organized a Saraswati Pooja on account of Basant Panchmi wherein Faculty, staff and students, decked up in their yellow coloured dresses, performed Pooja and Arti to Goddess Saraswati.

Diwali Celebration:-

Diwali party was organized in the campus on the occasion of Diwali .The Grand Party was hosted by the Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. RMLNLU, Prof. Gurdip Singh, and attended by Faculty, staff and students. The event was marked by festivities and cultural programmes performed by students which included the performance by University’s Rock Band formed by University’s own students and Qawwali

OHR - 2013:

The committee organized an intra-cultural festival named OHR-2013. The fest saw colossal participation from the entire college. The two-day event kick started with events like Mad-Ads competition, music competition and funky hairdo competition on the first day. The next day saw competitions of dance, theatre, face painting and movie making. The evenings were equally fun-filled incorporating activities like Minute-to-win-it and the closing ceremony, which saw release of beautiful wishing lanterns in the sky by students of all the years. The event gave an opportunity to each one to exhibit their talents.

Celebration of Teachers’ Day

On the occasion of Teachers' Day the students of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University organized a special program in the honour of faculty members. The program also had a felicitation function where students were awarded by Hon’ble Vice –Chancellor, for outstanding performance in their respective fields
